Purpose/Description

CEMIT-0

MIT Summary Statement

Used with the Summary Statement and DTR reports on the zmit menu. Modeled on the Classic System Monthly Accounting Statement. Does not include settlement.

CEMIT-1

MIT Standard Version 1

Similar to CEMIT-0, except that this structure is balanced (cost element detail is at the same level throughout the structure) and complete (settlement is included). This structure is used to set GL account flags in the Data Warehouse.

CEMIT- 2
MIT Standard Version 2 Similar to CEMIT-1, except that Net after Settlement is shown, and the Revenue and Transfer sections are combined (i.e. no subtotals for Internal Revenue, External Revenue, and Transfers).
CEMIT-3

MIT Funds Analysis

Similar to the MIT Fund Analysis Report. This structure focuses on revenue, with levels for investment income, gift revenues, other receipts, transfers in, and transfers out. This structure is complete.

CEMIT-4

MIT Research/Brown Book

Matches the structure used in the MIT Brown Book for Research Expenditures. There are four categories for salaries (Faculty-Regular Term, Faculty-Summer, Graduate Students, and Other), a category for EB, a category for Other Direct Expenses, and a category for Indirect Expenses. This structure is also complete (includes principal, revenue, and settlement).

CEMIT-5

MIT Operating Expense Analysis

Similar to the Classic Report: Operating Account Analysis or GL 54. Contains a category for equipment that includes only capital equipment, and a category for graduate student tuition expense. This structure is also complete.

CEMIT-6

MIT AMR All Cost Elements

Used to drive the 24-Column Account Manager’s Report on the zmit menu. The default in this report is CEMIT-EA, a subset of this structure that includes revenue and expense GL accounts only. At the CEMIT-6 level, this structure is complete (that is, it includes principal and settlement also, not just revenue and expenses).

CEMIT-7

MIT Secondary/Primary GL Accounts

Groups GL accounts by primary and secondary. Primary GL accounts exist both in the FI module of SAP and the CO module of SAP, and can be posted to directly, through the payment of an invoice, a cash receipt or a bill, or a journal voucher. Secondary costs exist only in the CO module, and are for the allocation of expenses such as EB, F&A charges, and Lab Allocation charges.

CEMIT-8

MIT Profit Center Volume

The most detailed of the CEMIT structures created to-date, and follows the Classic System GL 46. For example, salaries are broken down by Faculty (on and off campus), Other Academic (on and off campus), Faculty-Summer (on and off), Other Academic (on and off), Research, Administrative, Hourly, Support, Allocated, Graduate Student, and MIT Student. This structure does not include settlement GL accounts.

CEMIT-9

MIT MTDC Base/Non Base

Groups GL accounts based on whether they are on or off campus (for salaries and EB) and whether they are part of the base of costs subject to F&A charges on sponsored projects using an MTDC (Modified Total Direct Cost) base. This is a useful structure when trying to verify that F&A charges are correct.

CEMIT-A

MIT WBS Settlement Structure

Used to support a new type of settlement process for Media Lab Consortia. Expenses are grouped into only three categories: Salaries and Benefits, Operating Expenses, and Indirect Expenses.

CEMIT-B

Fund Analysis

This cost element group supports the Fund Analysis Report on the zmit menu. Cost element subgroups within the structure are named with the two-letter codes displayed in the SAP Fund Analysis Report.

CEMIT-C
Residential Life and Student Life Programs

This structure was designed for the use by Residential Life and Student Life programs, and places special emphasis on room, board, and rental revenues. It also separates programming expenses from insurance, debt service, housekeeping, and building maintenance costs.

CEMIT-D
MIT Sources & Uses

Designed for the Funds Reporting Project, this structure contains three sections: sources, uses, and transfers. Sources include research settlements, and transfers includes drafts and cost sharing in addition to other GL accounts commonly shown as transfers.

CEMIT-E
MIT Alternate Sources & Uses

Developed for the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences, this structure will show a grand total when used with the Summary Statement. At the third level, this structure shows revenue in total, but expenses in detail.

CEMIT-EXGR
Graduate Student Costs

Created at the request of users. Includes only three GL accounts: Research Assistants-On Campus, Research Assistants-Off Campus, and Tuition-No Overhead.

CEMIT-F
MIT Standard Version 3 It shows Operating Revenue and Expense, and Non-Operating Revenue and Expense, with more detail groupings in the revenue and expense categories than with the other standard versions. It is used for the quarterly and annual Institute financial statements
CEMIT-G
MIT Fund Base

This structure shows the GL accounts that are subject to Fund F&A and Fund Fee, as well as those that are exempt.

CEMIT-H
TDC Base/Non Base

Some cost objects bear F&A charges on a Total Direct Cost basis. Even on this basis, some GL accounts are exempt from TDC. This structure shows which GL accounts are part of the TDC base, and which are not.

CEMIT-I
MIT Budget Forecast

This structure was developed in conjunction with the Budget Office, and follows the structure used in administrative areas for budget submissions and forecasting during fiscal 2001. Categories include salaries, employee benefits, travel and professional development, equipment, professional services, materials and services, and interest expense.

CEMIT-J
Facilities Capital Projects This structure was created to allow for the reporting of Facilities capital projects. It includes general ledger account groupings that are unique to capital projects.
CEMIT-L
MIT IS Service Center This structure was put in place to support the IS Service Center. It includes the assessment secondary cost elements in the grouping where the natural expense resides, resulting in showing the group total net of the corresponding assessments.
CEMIT-M
Sponsored Billings Created for use by Sponsored Billing, shows Cost Sharing, Sponsored Billing, and Miscellaneous Revenue, Expenses (in one grouping), and Expense Net of Revenue.
CEMIT-N
