What
It Is Used For
The MIT Data Warehouse combines data
from central administrative systems such as financial,
general, personnel and student data in one location.
It is a read-only database, which guarantees its stability
over time. Data is loaded nightly from the data providers.
The Data Warehouse tables are specifically designed
for a quick response time.
Data from the Data Warehouse is most often brought
to the desktop via the software query tool BrioQuery.
In addition to the many downloadable
reports available on the Data
Warehouse
web site, you can create your own custom reports.
You can also export the results of your query into other
software programs, such as Microsoft Excel. Data Warehouse
data may also be joined with local information from
your local workstation.
Authorizations
& Access
To gain access to the Data Warehouse,
fill out the Request
for Access Form. BrioQuery can be downloaded from
the IS web page BrioQuery
at MIT.

Training
and Documentation
On the Data Warehouse web site you
can find documentation
for using the Data Warehouse. Training classes in
using BrioQuery are given by Information Systems; see
Computer
Training at MIT. Administrative Officers and others
with fiscal responsibility may want to begin with the
class "BrioQuery: Running Standard Financial Reports,"
which provides a general overview to the pre-built (canned)
queries available to all Data Warehouse users.
User
Group
Every Thursday, the Data Warehouse
user group meets in N42-237 starting at 1:30 pm.
You can confirm
the schedule for a particular date on the web site.
Data Warehouse staff members are available for hands-on
help during this time. Bring along a diskette to take
queries and reports back to your office.
