NIMBUS

What It Is Used For
NIMBUS is the system of record for general and auxiliary Institute budgets. It is integrated with SAP and maintains and feeds budget information to SAP and the MIT Data Warehouse. NIMBUS has a web front end for submitting and viewing budgets, and a graphical user interface for the Office of Budget and Financial Planning (OBFP) to use for maintaining and analyzing budget data.

Authorizations & Access
To access the NIMBUS web front end, you must be listed in the Roles Database as a NIMBUS user (see the Roles Database section). Your Budget Officer can arrange for this authorization.

NIMBUS uses the Netscape MIT web certificate for user authentication. See the IS web page for web certificates.

Training and Documentation
Training classes are run annually, during the budget submission cycle. Notice of classes goes to the AO Query email list. In addition, Budget Officers are available to work with system users whenever needed.

The NIMBUS Budget Preparation Guide and NIMBUS Tutorial are available on the NIMBUS web site.

Email List
OBFP maintains an email list of NIMBUS users to communicate operational information. OBFP uses the AO Query email list to communicate general budget information to the MIT community.
