Announcements to the MIT Community about the SAP 4.6 Upgrade
12/5/00 Chuck Shaw sent a detailed email message to SAP users.
12/6/00 An article in Tech Talk included the reasons for doing the upgrade, dates of the "delta" demonstrations, expected "go-live" date, community involvement in the process, and information on the resources for help.
12/8/00 Chuck Shaw sent an email message to lists of people who may be supervisors of SAP users to let them know that these employees will need to attend delta demonstrations and possibly training sessions. The lists included Faculty Council, Administrative Council, principal investigators, and the aac-aoquery list.
12/21/00 Chuck Shaw notified SAP users that MIT's Administrative Systems and Policies Coordinating Council approved the timing of the upgrade for the final weekend in January 2001. His message also reiterated information about the delta demonstrations, training exercises, documentation, and the times during the upgrade when the entire SAP system will be unavailable.
1/10/01 An article in Tech Talk includes details about the remaining demonstrations and training options for users as well as providing options for purchasing and other necessary business while the SAP system is unavailable.
1/12/01 The January issue of the Financial Systems Update is dedicated to the SAP 4.6 Upgrade. It includes information about the process and timing of the upgrade; training, documentation, and support for the upgrade; how to be prepared for the SAP shutdown during the 1/25-1/29 upgrade period.
1/22/01 Diane Shea sent the contents of the 1/10/01 Tech Talk article to the aac-aoquery list as another reminder of what will happen during the upgrade and shutdown.
   
  Note: SAP users also have received several notifications from Theresa Regan in Information Systems about downloading the GUI (graphical user interface). These messages began in November 2000.
