Some Details about Open Enrollment

Open Enrollment takes place from November 14, 2007, 9 AM to November 30, 2007, 4 PM (EST) for benefits-eligible employees. Due to Internal Revenue Service regulations, you can only add or make changes to your health and welfare benefits during this Open Enrollment period. You cannot make changes to these benefits at any other time during the year unless you have a qualified change of employment or family status (examples of a qualified change include marriage, divorce, birth, adoption).

Specifically, during Open Enrollment you have the opportunity to:

  • Make changes to your health, dental, and supplemental life insurance plans for 2008
  • Enroll in a health or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA) for 2008
  • Add eligible dependents to your coverage, or discontinue coverage for current dependents
  • Enroll in new benefits

If you have any questions about eligibility, qualified changes in employment or family status, or any other benefits-related topics, visit HR–EMPLOYEE BENEFITS. You can also e-mail benefits-www@mit.edu, or call 617-253-6151 to speak to a Benefits Representative from 9 AM to 4 PM (EST).
