Originally from Lawrence, Kan., Emily will spend the 2005-2006 academic year in Cambridge, England studying for an M.Phill. degree in sustainable development. She is one of only 12 Americans to be awarded the Winston Churchill Scholarship this year. Emily has interned with Boeing and with the Fluid Dynamics group at the Pennsylvania State University. She was selected to be an undergraduate teaching assistant and won her department's achievement award, and her department's award for original thinking or ingenuity in her junior year experimental project. Emily is also an outstanding athlete, setting MIT's record in the high jump and honored with the Coach's award for her success in track and field.
