The School of Science is pleased to offer the "Dean's Educational & Student Advising" award. Rules and guidelines for this award are discussed in detail below.

The Rewards and Recognition "Dean's Educational & Student Advising" program is a mechanism to recognize and reward MIT employees actively involved with education. The program is meant to provide opportunities to recognize and reward members of MIT's faculty, instructors, lecturer's, postdocs, graduate students and staff for accomplishments beyond their typical assigned roles and duties. HHMI employees may be nominated for this award, however, they are not eligible to receive the cash portion of the award. The School of Science reward will be a financial supplement ($1,750.00) that is expressly distinct from base pay and yearly performance reviews.

We are pleased to announce the call for nominations for the 2007 "Dean's Educational & Student Advising" Award. Nominations will be due on Wednesday, February 21, 2007. The following guidelines should be followed when nominating someone for this award:

  • Nominators may be peers or a supervisor of a nominee. A detailed letter of support along with the nomination cover sheet should be sent to the Department Head/Laboratory Director and/or respective Administrative Officer / Personnel Administrator for departmental review and signature. One (1) well-written letter with detailed examples is sufficient for each nominee with a maximum of 3 letters per nominee allowed.
  • Previous winners will not be eligible to receive another award for 1 year from the date of the first award received.
  • All nominations approved and signed by the department/lab AO/PA or DH/LD should be forwarded to D. Martin (6-123) by Wednesday, February 21, 2007.
  • The R&R Selection Committee will make the final selections from the School wide nominations. Winners will be notified by the R&R Administrator.
  • All winners nominated for a team award will each receive the full $1,750.00 award.
  • An Awards Celebration will be held on April 23, 2007 (2:00-4:00 p.m.) to honor and publicly recognize the awardees. Location 68-180.
