Plum Cove

Location: Rockport, MA
Exposure
: northwest
Depth: 10-20'
Entry: sandy

Description

Plum Cove is a sandy beach with a very easy entry. The site is often diveable when many other sites are weathered out. Depth ranges from 10 to 20 feet and there is a small reef outside the cove just off the right point (facing the ocean). Unrestricted parking Monday through Saturday until 11:00 am. On weekends and holidays, you can park on some side streets, or the abandoned lot, about 1/4 of a mile further down (away from Gloucester) Route 127 on the left.

Directions from Boston

  • Take Route 1 or Route 93 To Route 128 North.
  • Follow 128 to the first rotory (Grant Circle).
  • Go 3/4 of the way around Grant Circle, and take 127 south.
  • Plum Cove will be the first sandy beach you see on your left, several miles down 127, between Annisquam and Lanesville. If you hit Folly Cove or Rockport, you have gone too far.
