The water in Rhode Island tends to be a little warmer throughout the year than in Massachusetts. In fact, everywhere south of Cape Cod tends to be a little warmer due to the proximity of the Gulf Stream. There have been reports on occasion of "lost" tropical fish being spotted in Rhode Island during late summer.
