Mission Statement
The Fishing Technology Expert Working
Group’s mission
is to provide expert advice by reviewing and commenting on research strategies
and priorities related to fishing technology. The goal of the group is
to enhance conservation and utilization of living marine resources by identifying
fishing technology problems, assessing the related priorities, and pursuing
research opportunities individually and collectively. The group will provide
managers, researchers and the fishing industry a focal point for research
leading to conservation and enhanced utilization of marine living resources
through fisheries engineering research.
The group is composed of internationally recognized gear experts in the
Northeastern USA who have extensive experience in research and development
in fisheries conservation engineering.
