Joe
Swayze is a photographer and
longtime member of the faculty at Noble and Greenough School
in Dedham, Mass. He first began photographing in 1968-1969 as
a U.S. Army Information Officer with the 9th Infantry Division
in Vietnam. Swayze first returned to Vietnam in 1998, when he
bicycled from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City, and then again in 2001,
documenting the people and places he visited. Swayze has been
an instructor at the Maine Photographic Workshops in Rockport,
Maine for many years. His awards include the Vernon L. Greene
teaching prize at Noble and Greenough and a fellowship at the
MacDowell Colony. He lives in Rockport, Mass.
