What is ICI?
Innovate, Create, Initiate (ICI) is a competition designed to help and mentor aspiring young MIT entrepreneurs. The ICI workshop and competition aims to educate young prospective entrepreneurs on the process of creating a business venture from their engineering and technological ideas: developing a team, identifying opportunities, creating a business plan, researching the market, and raising funds. ICI will kickoff with a workshop on November 7 where each team will get a chance to work with a mentor who specializes in a field of study that matches that of the team's interests. With their mentor, participants will further develop their idea, get a preliminary plan on paper, perform team-building activities, and prepare a 1-minute “elevator pitch” of their idea to everyone.
After the workshop, students will continue to develop and refine their idea, finalize a business plan, and prepare a presentation to take place on November 21 in front of a panel of judges consisting of VC's, professors, entrepreneurs, etc . Each team will have 5-15 minutes to make a presentation, simulating a pitch in front of potential investors. The event will conclude with an award ceremony for outstanding teams, lunch, and a networking opportunity for students to connect with mentors and sponsors.
