Fall 2009 Timeline

Kick Off Event

Friday, September 11, 2009
Time: 12-1PM, Location: 4-237
The kick off event starts at 12PM (noon) to 1PM at room 4-237. Come learn more about VentureShips program and meet the host companies as they try to recruit you to join their team. Food will be served.

Schedule:

  • 12:00pm, Design that Matters
  • 12:15pm, Grassroots Giving Group
  • 12:30pm, Rate it Green
  • 12:45pm, ClickDiagnostics

  • Students are encouraged to look through the company and project descriptions to find those that are interesting to them, and attend as many of the company presentations as possible in order to make informed decisions.

    Applications Due

    Students are to submit applications by e-mail. Information on how to apply can be found in the How to Apply section.

    Company Selection of Members

    Week of September 16
    Applications are forwarded to the appropriate companies. Companies then return their student preferences to VentureShips, which then matches students with companies. While many companies look for specific backgrounds and experiences that will be relevant to the project, they will also look for motivation and intensity. You can expect companies to do an additional phone or in-person interview.

    First seminar and networking event for Fall 2009. Come meet and learn from Lou Goldish from MIT Venture Mentoring Service on how to conduct market research

    Strategy Meeting with VMS

    Wednesday, October 7, 2009 Time: 5-7PM, Location: TBD
    An opportunity to meet with advisors from MIT Venture Mentoring Service to go over the scope of the project and define the milestone for the semester

    Final Presentation to VentureShips and VMS mentors

    Wednesday, December 9, 2009 (Tentative) Time: 5-6:30PM, Location: TBD
    A conclusion to Fall 2009 VentureShips program. Final presentation from each grop on what they have done and learned in the past semester

    We got some good and surprising information out of the project. I have data points on competitors and other companies in the space I never would have found on my own.
