What is the Senior Gift?
The Senior Gift is the total amount of gifts made by members of the senior class during the Senior Gift Campaign. All gifts, regardless of designation, are included in the total. Our class president will present our Senior Gift total to President Hockfield at Commencement.

Why should I participate in the Senior Gift if I am not interested in the class project?
You don't have to support the class project to participate in the Senior Gift Campaign. All of us have experiences from our time at MIT that have been important to us—from researching through UROP to participating in athletics to making friends in living groups and student activities. Senior Gift is the best way to ensure that future MIT students will have similar opportunities. You can support the part of MIT that is most important to you, whether it be UROP, athletics, financial aid, or an academic department. All gifts, regardless of what they support, will count toward the Senior Gift total.
MIT has a lot of money; why does the Institute need my support?
You may not realize it, but tuition covers less than half the costs related to our education. Who helped pay for the rest? Alumni. Alumni gifts are important to all aspects of MIT life—from financial aid to student activities. All of us have benefited in one way or another from the gifts of alumni who came before us. The Senior Gift is the first opportunity for us to say thank you and continue this tradition of making similar opportunities available to future generations of MIT students.
How does my gift make a difference?
The main goal of the Senior Gift Campaign is participation. Through your participation, you can show your support for the programs at MIT you feel are important. You can also help our class achieve results we will be proud to announce at Commencement. In addition, with our challenge, every gift makes a difference! If you make a gift, class participation goes up and the amount of the gift from our challenger, Ken Wang '71, increases. Overall, participation from seniors and alumni is important to MIT. The participation rate is used by groups like US News & World Report as one of the factors in determining MIT's ranking among other universities.
What is the deadline to make my gift?
The deadline is May 13, 2010.
