The Senior Gift Challenge

There is $30k burning a hole in the pocket of John Jarve ’78 SM ’79. He is ready to use that money to support us, MIT students, through Mad Money Grants. But we have a job to do first. To receive the full $30k, we need to reach 84% participation in our Senior Gift Challenge. Let’s show John that 2014 is up to the challenge!

Class Participation Challenge Reward
84% $30,000
70% $20,000
55% $15,000
40% $10,000
25% $5,000

Your gift to MIT is more than just a donation, it’s a representation of how you feel about this place and all the amazing things that happen here. That’s why you can make a gift of any size and to any MIT need including scholarships, athletics, UROP’s, student organizations—it all counts toward our participation goal; just make a gift that’s meaningful to you.

Those who stretch with a $50 gift will be offered membership in the William Barton Rogers Society, the Institute’s leadership giving society. Members of this society are invited to events exclusive to WBRS donors after Commencement!

Have you ever been part of a student group that needed cash beyond the scope of its annual budget for travel or special projects? Our Senior Gift Challenge Reward will serve as a source for just such funding through Mad Money Grants. All of the challenge funds we earn will go directly to fund these grants. The Student Activities Office will award these one-time grants annually to MIT-recognized student groups needing that special extra cash. The higher our participation, the higher the gift from our challenger—it’s up to us to make Mad Money Grants happen!

Senior Gift over the Years
The MIT Senior Gift Campaign has been revitalized through the strong efforts put forth by the Classes of 2006 through 2013 with participation reaching high levels year after year. In fact, a new participation record was set by the class of 2013 last year (83%), but we want to beat that! Now is the time for 2014 to step up to support current and future MIT students through our Senior Gift Challenge. Help us continue MIT’s newest tradition of excellence this year with your gift to MIT before the last day of classes!
