The Steer Roast shield burns in the coals in the pit all night while the meat roasts. It is made out of 3/8" stainless steel. Here's how it looked after the 2004 Roast: Roast

Ted Smith, Dave Lerner, Charles Frasier, Michael Potash and Chester Schneider at the first ever courtyard roast. It was never just a BBQ! However it may not have been named Steer Roast until 1964. The spit was made of rebar "liberated" from the Green Building.
