Here is my Ph.D. thesis.
My research at MIT bridges theoretical and experimental computer science to design machine learning algorithms and statistical models. It specifically addresses the challenges faced in learning from Big Data, with particular focus on effective use of computational and financial resources. Methodological work includes supervised ranking & classification (optimization-based), cost-effective crowdsourcing algorithms and statistical modeling for reliability analysis. My current application areas of interest are in i) the Energy domain with a particular focus on reliability analysis in electric grids for Smart Grid technologies (joint with industry), and ii) Computational Social Science, particularly online prediction algorithms for crowdsourcing systems. I am currently the co-PI of the project "Big Data Analysis for Energy Plants and Commercial Optimization."
