REFUNDs

If your student account shows a credit balance, you may be entitled to receive a refund to a personal bank account via direct deposit. Before receiving your refund, you must sign up for direct deposit on MITPAY by following the instructions below:

To enroll in Direct Deposit:

  1. Log in to MITPAY and click on the Direct Deposit link on the menu to the left of the page.
  2. Either choose your existing payment profile or set up a new checking or savings account for refunds.
  3. Enter the banking information for the account that will be used for direct deposit.
  4. To ensure the accuracy of your bank account information, the system will request you to reenter your bank account number.
  5. Confirm that all information entered is correct, check the box to agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. Click “Confirm” if complete, or “Edit Banking Info” to edit any incorrect information.

A direct deposit confirmation will be displayed for you to save or print for your record.

To request a refund:

If you are expecting a credit balance and want to make sure you receive the funds as soon as possible, check your daily student account activity on WebSIS (do not go into MITPay itself in this case, as this only updates once per month). Once you see the credit balance, call or e-mail your counselor for Customer Service directly and ask that the refund be processed. After deposit is authorized, it can take up to 48 hours to appear in your chosen account. Our office hours are Monday-Friday, 9AM-5PM, except Wednesdays, when we are open 10AM-5PM.
