Financial aid checklist

Graduate and professional students, including Sloan School of Management – U.S. citizens and permanent residents

For the 2014-2015 academic year

If you wish to apply for a need-based or non-need-based student loan from federal or private sources and/or Federal Work-Study, you must submit the following documents. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but we recommend that you file before April 15, 2014 if you expect to receive credit on your fall semester bill.

The total of all your funding including scholarships, fellowships, research assistantships, teaching assistantships, student loans and Federal Work-Study may not exceed the price of attending MIT.

Also keep in mind that after you’re awarded financial aid, there are additional steps you must take before your aid is disbursed.

Mail or fax the completed form to Student Financial Services.

If your family has special circumstances or unusual expenses, or you have any other information that will help us understand their financial situation more completely, please include that information in the last section of the MIT Graduate Loan Application.

Important Sites Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
When you complete the FAFSA online, be sure that you and your parents obtain PIN numbers to sign electronically or submit the signature page as instructed. MIT's FAFSA Code is 002178.

CSS Profile
Apply online at the College Board website. MIT's CSS code is 3514. MIT receives your profile data electronically from CSS so you do not send copies or printouts of your application to MIT.
