Financial aid checklist

Graduate and professional students, including Sloan School of Management – U.S. citizens and permanent residents

For the 2007-2008 academic year

If you wish to apply for a need-based or non-need-based student loan from federal or private sources and/or Federal Work-Study, you must submit the following documents. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but we recommend that you file before April 15, 2007 if you expect to receive credit on your fall semester bill.

The total of all your funding including scholarships, fellowships, research assistantships, teaching assistantships, student loans and Federal Work-Study may not exceed the price of attending MIT.

Also keep in mind that after you’re awarded financial aid, there are additional steps you must take before your aid is disbursed. Those steps are outlined on the page for finalizing graduate awards.

• Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • As soon as possible after January 1, 2007, complete the 2007-2008 FAFSA online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
  • Designate MIT as one of your recipients by using “Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA 02139.” Our federal code number is 002178.

  • Download the 2007-2008 MIT Graduate Loan Application and complete it.
  • Mail or fax the completed form to Student Financial Services.
