Important news about MEFA loans for 2008-09

MEFA (the Massachusetts Educational Financing Authority) announced on July 28, 2008 that it has been unable to secure funding for 2008-2009 education loans due to the ongoing disruptions in capital markets.

MIT encourages students who are still looking for financing sources for the fall semester to work with their assigned MIT financial aid officer to understand all other available financing options, including federal student loans and the Federal PLUS Loan for graduate students.

Loan entrance counseling
Online counseling via WebSIS is required for all first-time borrowers of Federal Direct Loans, Federal Perkins Loans and MIT Technology Loan.

Campus Partners
Campus Partners handles billing and payment for Federal Perkins Loans and MIT Technology Loans.

Direct Loan Servicing Ctr.
The DLSC handles billing and payment for Federal Direct Loans and Graduate PLUS Loans.

Loan exit counseling
