Richmond, Ind.
Major: Materials science and engineering
I can recall investigating colleges in my senior year in high school and the hesitation associated with the high cost of MIT. We found that most students do not pay full tuition, and this was a reason to proceed with the application. When I think back to that time and compare it with the present, I realize the extent that my education at MIT shaped the way I view the world.
After participating in undergraduate research, my understanding of what research entails was enhanced, and I realized that I must feel a sense of service in my work for it to be satisfying. I plan to begin a graduate program in materials science and engineering at MIT in the fall of 2006 and am happy serving in the Baha'i faith with the community in Boston and Cambridge.
