The Experimental Projects Lab, 16.621 and 16.622, is designed to give students experience with engineering experimentation. The first class, which is 6 units, includes project selection and a work study. General comments from students who took this class were positive, with several mentioning that both Prof. Kuchar and Prof. Clarke were "great" or "good." One students remarked that the class was "interesting, [and] inspires thinking ingeniously."

The most prevalent comment regarding the class was the desire to have more time to choose a project. "Give project pack during the summer" was one suggestion, while others mentioned having more time to meet with the other professors to select a project. A couple of the students stated that the lectures for the class didn't always seem relevant to the work at hand. Other students lauded the quick feedback in the class and the help with the writing and presentation.

The primary item that students felt would help in succeeding in the class was to spend a lot of time with the project advisor, understanding the project. One student suggested having individual meetings between the students and the lecturers.
