The second semester in the Experimental Projects class, 16.622, is solely made up with project work and development. The students finish their project, presenting their work both in progress and finished. Generally, the student comments on the class were positive, with one noting that "it's good, although the student is basically 'thrown into the melting pot' to [fend for himself]."

The background suggested for the class included CAD experience, electronics, and Unified, although many of the students commented that the background would depend on the project selection. Also, a student remarked that you should "have an attitude that many unexpected problems will come up." Resources used by the students included professional journals, department theses, and "many meetings with your advisor."

One student suggested expanding the class to include "design and construction" rather than just "experimentation." Another suggested that extending 622 into IAP would allow more time to polish the final project. A couple of people wished that they had had more feedback on solving problems rather than just identifying them. And one stated that having more lecturers from industry would be helpful.

"Keep the project simple"

"I like the free spirit of the work being done"

"The class really stimulates you to become quite independent"
