Most students enjoyed the class and felt that it was well taught and interesting. There were several who were not sure what exactly would be covered, and who would have preferred a more detailed class, instead of the broad overview they found. Many praised Professor Boppe for his dedication to the class and his presentation style, although a couple remarked that class was dull at times and that he relied on transparencies too often. Many enjoyed the guest speakers, and several requested that there be more.

Half of the class felt that the problem sets and lectures best helped them learn the material, although many also remarked that the problem sets were too long, and contained too much busy work that didn't help in learning the material. Several remarked that there was just too much material covered in too little time, and that more class hours would be helpful. A couple suggested increasing the units of the class beyond 12 to account for the extra time it requires. Almost half recommended industrial experience as a background for the class, and others recommended good team work and communication skills, and general aeronautical knowledge.

The overall opinion of the class was that the class was interesting and gave an important overview to a subject many students had not been exposed to before.

"Helps you think about things not taught in other classes; design for manufacturing, safety, etc, and the design process in general."

"The class is good, but we have too much work, with the different assignments, speaker reports, projects, conferences - takes too much time!"

"Well taught material which EVERY practicing engineering should be familiar with"
