Undergraduate Studies / HASS Requirement / HASS-D Requirement / Lottery

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ON THE HASS-D LOTTERY

The lottery will:

Students will always have the option of dropping the HASS-D subject assigned by the lottery and enrolling in any subject still open. A list of open subjects will be available at http://web.mit.edu/shass/undergraduate/hass-req/hass-d/lottery/open-class.shtml. In that case, you must submit an Add/Drop card after Registration Day.

As stated above, the system will try to give students their first choice. However, if a student wishes to ensure taking a HASS-D subject this term, he or she should include among the classes selected a HASS-D subject that is unlikely to be overenrolled.

A student's place in a subject will be held only through the first class meeting. If a student assigned a class by the Lottery does not attend the first meeting, his or her place may be given to another student.

If you wish to take an additional HASS-D subject this semester, you must consult the list of open classes after the Lottery runs (http://web.mit.edu/shass/undergraduate/hass-reg/hass-d/lottery/open-class.shtml), and register for these after Registration Day using an add/drop form.

This system makes HASS-D enrollment much easier for both students and faculty. If you have any questions, please call or visit the HASS Office, x3-4441, Room 14N-410, or email us at hass-www@mit.edu.
