The Core Curriculum includes six integrated subjects which provide students with a broad, rigorous background in the speech and hearing sciences:

These six subjects are normally taken in the first year of study, and form the basis for the Written Qualifying Exam.

HST.790 introduces students in their second year to ethical issues in the speech and hearing sciences. HST.791 provides first-year students with broad exposure to research conducted by members of the program faculty. It meets once each week for an hour. HST.590 meets every other week and covers issues in biomedical science and engineering. All HST students are required to participate each semester.
