My doctoral work examined the auditory effects of eardrum perforations.
My research focuses on sound transmission in normal and diseased ears. This work has applications in audiometric instrumentation, surgical auditory implants, and aids for the hearing impaired.
I chose the SHBT Program for a number of reasons. First, the required courses combined engineering with physiology. Second, the small class size ap pealed to me. This format allowed the students to participate in every lecture, and it also encouraged students to work together and learn from each other. A final reason was the enthusiasm displayed amongst the faculty. The strengths of the Program include the faculty, the classes, the numerous options for research projects in many different labs, and the four years of funding that allow one to investigate a number of research areas before choosing a thesis topic. The SHBT Program was definitely a good choice for me; there is no question that I would make the same choice again.
