Format

This is a one-day workshop that will follow the 19th Annual Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems (NIPS 2005). The workshop will consist of two 3-hour sessions. There will be two invited talks and a selected number of contributed talks/presentations, with time for questions and discussion after each talk. We would particularly like to encourage, after each talk, a discussion of underlying assumptions, alternative approaches, and possible applications or theoretical analyses, as appropriate. The last 30 minutes of the workshop will be reserved for a concluding discussion which will be used to put into perspective insights gained from the workshop and to highlight open challenges.

Invited Talks
Details of the invited talks can be found here.

Contributed Talks/Presentations

There will be two types of contributed presentations:
  • Regular Presentations
These will consist of 20-25 minute talks, each followed by 5 minutes of discussion, and will be based on papers submitted for review. See the call for papers for details.

  • Short Presentations
In response to a huge demand, we will have some slots for short presentations, which will consist of either short talks or poster presentations. These will be based on submissions of extended abstracts; see the call for abstracts for details. Regular papers that are not accepted for a regular presentation will also automatically be considered for these short presentations.
