Summer 2016 Practice

The Shotokan Karate club will be hosting a one month introduction to Shotokan Karate, "Shotokan through Yellow Belt," in the month of July. Practice will start July 6th and continue through August 3rd, meeting on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7pm in the DuPont T-Club Lounge (9 classes). Please sign up here if you are interested.

Please email shotokan-officers@mit.edu for more information.

For "Shotokan through Yellow Belt", we recommend attending at least 75% of classes in July. The course is designed to learn unique new material every class, and it will be much harder to follow along without attending as many classes as possible.

The one month course is free of charge! If you are interested in joining the club officially, club dues are $30 and will cover your dues for the fall semester. Furthermore, we will buy you your Karate uniform and tournament quality sparring gear when you do pay dues. For those with uniforms from prior, please feel free to wear it, otherwise comfortable exercise clothes will be suitable.

You can find a syllabus for the course as we have taught it in the past below, but it will be adapted to our July schedule as necessary to optimize your learning.
