
The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) seeks candidates for tenured and tenure-track positions in Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship to begin Fall 2013 or thereafter. Skoltech is a new, private university located just outside of Moscow and established in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Skoltech aims to advance education, scholarship, and economic development in the Russian Federation and beyond by educating graduate students and conducting research programs that address key challenges in science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. This unique university will offer Russian and international students graduate education, research opportunities, and integrated innovation and entrepreneurship experiences.
As a central member of the Skolkovo innovation ecosystem, sometimes called the "Russian Silicon Valley," Skoltech will attract and educate top talent from the Russian Federation and overseas. By interacting closely with research laboratories, new ventures, and industrial partners in Skolkovo and throughout the world, Skoltech will help create a crucible of economic and entrepreneurial activity driven by the generation and application of new scientific knowledge and technological capability.
Over the coming decade, Skoltech will grow to have a faculty of over 200 professors, appointed according to international standards and procedures, and approximately 300 post-doctoral researchers and 1200 graduate students. The first group of faculty members will provide a model of inspired leadership in research, graduate education, and innovation for others to follow.
Faculty responsibilities include teaching and educational development in graduate education, development of an independent, internationally recognized research program in technological innovation and entrepreneurship, and active involvement in the innovation and entrepreneurship activities of Skoltech. Faculty members will have an opportunity to spend the first year in residence at MIT, defining and participating in joint research with MIT faculty mentors and engaging in educational and innovation programs at MIT.
Applicants are invited to apply for faculty positions in Technological Entrepreneurship and managerial aspects of Technological Innovation. We seek applicants for tenure-track positions and more senior tenured positions.
Successful applicants must demonstrate ability and interest in establishing vigorous educational and research activities in Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship and may fit one of the two following profiles:
Applicants with a Ph.D. degree in natural sciences or engineering, an outstanding record of research and teaching in their subject matter field, and active practical involvement in technological innovation and entrepreneurship demonstrated by participation in startups or work with industry on development of innovative technological solutions, are strongly encouraged to apply for faculty positions advertised under the call for Science, Engineering and Innovation faculty (http://web.mit.edu/sktech/faculty-positions/).
