Overview Information

The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology is excited to announce the launch of the Innovation Sponsorship Program (ISP) in support of building an innovation ecosystem at Skolkovo. The ISP will competitively award translational research funds and mentors for a period of one year as a means to bridge the gap between the laboratory and marketplace and serve as a catalyst for innovation and entrepreneurship in the academic and university research ecosystem.

The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is a new private graduate university located just outside of Moscow, Russia. Skoltech was established in 2011 in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Skoltech aims to advance education, scholarship and economic development in the Russian Federation and beyond by educating graduate students and conducting research programs that address key challenges in science, technology and innovation.

The Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Skoltech (CEI@Skoltech) is chartered to foster and link research and education at Skoltech with entrepreneurship and innovation (E&I) by providing E&I curricula to Skoltech students, conducting research into the management and practice of innovation in Russia and elsewhere, and providing commercialization services to Skoltech faculty, researchers, Research Center participants and partner institutions. The overarching goal of the CEI is to instill a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship in the education and scientific activities of Skoltech.

The CEI’s ISP provides critical support to principle investigators in the laboratories of Russian universities and research institutes to help establish proof of concept and provide assistance with advancing their technology towards commercialization, such as help with pre-start up identification of high potential market opportunities, intellectual property management, and, if appropriate, team development. The ISP will be funded by the CEI@Skoltech and will be run in collaboration with MIT.
