About SloanLGBT
What is the mission of Sloan LGBT?
SloanLGBT is a student organization
established to foster and promote an open and honest environment for
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered students, partners, faculty
and staff in the Sloan community. We seek to promote positive images
of the LGBT community and to foster opportunities for personal and
professional growth regardless of sexual preference or sexual
identity.
We achieve this by:
- Promoting positive visibility in the Sloan community
- Fostering a sense of community among Sloan's LGBT students
- Providing a contact point for gay-friendly companies
- Networking with professionals outside of Sloan
- Creating opportunities for socializing with other LGBT
students (e.g. MIT, Harvard, BU)
- Becoming a resource for professional issues (e.g. by hosting
seminars on being out in the workplace, benefits issues, financial
planning, etc.)
- Establishing a resource for general information (e.g. by
hosting a web page with links to resources for those questioning
sexual identity or for non-gay professionals interested in gay
workplace issues)
- Creating a community of Sloan LGBT Alumni
We offer a variety of programs and events to our members:
- Speakers & Workshops
- Networking events with alumni and other professionals
- Recruiting events
- 1st and 2nd year mentorship programs
- Social events
