About Epoch Foundation
For more than a decade, more than a dozen Taiwan conglomerates under the aegis of the Taiwan-based Epoch Foundation have supported Sloan research, teaching and program development in the Asia/Pacific region.
The program began with a commitment for a $10 million endowment to support faculty research on China-based concerns, executive education programs in Taiwan and at Sloan, regional workshops and conferences, and scholarships for Taiwanese participants in Sloan Executive Education programs.
In the years since the Epoch Foundation was established, its activity at MIT has expanded to include almost $30 million in collaborative research and educational initiatives not only at Sloan, but also with MIT's Industrial Liaison Program, Media Lab, Microsystems Technology Lab, Laboratory for Computer Sciences/Artificial Intelligence Lab, the Industrial Performance Center's Globalization Study, and other centers of activity.
MIT faculty & students visit Epoch Foundation companies in Taiwan, and CEOs of Epoch companies come to Cambridge for seminars with faculty, to meet with MIT faculty and staff on specific projects and ideas, and to visit MIT start-ups that may offer opportunities for investment. Epoch Foundation companies’ last visit was in October 2002.
More than 90 men and women associated with Epoch Foundation member companies have graduated from Sloan programs or participated in Executive Education short courses at Sloan.
