Visiting with Her Excellency Georgina Wood was one of the highlights of our trip to Ghana. We met with Her Excellency and two justices in the Court of Final Appeals, and had the chance to learn about Ghana's legal infrastructure. Within one question-filled hour, we learnt about the dual track legal system, the development of the commercial court, women's role in the judiciary system, the legal environment for setting up businesses, and much more.

It was particularly impressive and inspiring to interact with a Chief Justice - sometimes called "CJ" for short - so accomplished yet so humble and generous. CJ was incredibly giving of her time with us, and went out of her way to help us learn about Ghana. In fact, out of sheer kindness, generosity, and eagerness to help us see as much as possible, she personally invited several students to attend the inauguration of new justices at the President's Palace. To meet someone with both grace and authority in such measures was a very powerful experience.
