TESTIMONIALS ON WHY OUR MEMBERS JOINED SCF

“Although I already had a strong church home before coming to MIT Sloan, I was glad to find a fellowship that was willing to explore issues of business and faith. I had a great first year in SCF - square dancing with the likes of Miss America at the IVCF fall retreat, meeting luminaries such as Dennis Bakke, CEO of AES Corp and author of “Joy at Work”, chatting with Alec Hill, President of IVCF, and of course, hanging out with some awesome second years and IVCF staff!”

I had casually signed up for SCF during Clubfest but little did I know that it would do more for me than any other organization. Once the core and recruiting were underway I totally got caught up, trying to make sure that I got the most out of MIT while trying to keep my head above water, academically. In late October I strolled into my first meeting and I wished I had started going earlier. As next generation leaders, business school will expose you to many tests from personal relationships to the lure of power and money. The SCF meetings provided a break in all the noise and gave me a compass to constantly remember who I was and what I stood for

I loved my SCF experience! I was active in a church as well, but this was different. This was about learning from classmates in similar positions and facing similar issues regarding the integration of one's faith and vocation. It was great to build strong and deep friendships with classmates that I'll carry forward throughout my life. These are people on whom I will always be able to call for advice on faith/workplace implications. I'll take numerous lessons forward from SCF, including a better understanding of the roles that a Christian business leader might play and what it might mean to be a Christian manager - and these lessons weren't what I expected.  For example, think about this question: Would Jesus fire someone, and if so, how? Come to SCF to discuss it!”
