Shaun Bamforth, President
Shaun is a second year MBA student at MIT Sloan. A registered professional engineer in the state of Florida, he previously worked in land development consulting as a project manager in both the public and private sectors throughout the South Florida market. Shaun is also a LEED accredited professional with extensive experience in sustainable design. Shaun received his BA in Civil Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is focusing on real estate development, sustainability and entrepreneurship while at Sloan. In his free time Shaun enjoys golf as well as playing and coaching lacrosse.
Alex Mejean, President
Alex is a second year MBA student at MIT Sloan. Previously, he worked in the Commercial Real Estate Lending division of Anglo Irish Bank Corporation plc (“Anglo”), where he underwrote and closed $950MM of balance sheet loans. While at Anglo, Alex also assumed day-to-day management of a $1.25B loan portfolio consisting of multiple property types (office, multifamily, retail, hospitality, industrial). This past summer Alex worked at BNYMellon in their Real Estate & Mortgage Banking division, where he performed loan underwriting and closing duties. Alex holds a B.A. in Economics from Bucknell University and is focusing on courses in real estate finance and investment while at Sloan.
Ryan Butler, Vice President of Communications & Networking
Ryan is completing a Masters of Science in Real Estate Development at MIT’s Center for Real Estate. Prior to moving to Cambridge, Ryan spent five years working in the China property market with Savills Property. During his tenure at Savills, Ryan’s investment team was involved in over US$1.2B in China-based transactions and he subsequently helped Savills set up one of the first outbound investment departments aimed at helping Chinese investors acquire foreign property. In 2011 Ryan returned to the US to establish Treetop Properties, an investment firm that acquires and manages multifamily and single-family residential assets in the Midwest. Ryan is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and holds a B.A. in Economics from Trinity College (Hartford, CT).
Natalie Hooper, Vice President of Recruiting
Natalie is a first year student at MIT Sloan. Prior to Sloan, Natalie practiced architecture for 6 years in New York City, where she worked on such notable projects as the United Nations Renovation, Avalon Fort Greene luxury apartments, and the Vehicle Security Center for the World Trade Center. As a LEED AP, with a specialty in Building Design + Construction, Natalie also worked on sustainable projects. In 2011, Natalie finished the Real Estate Associate Program, which exposes professionals to the world of commercial real estate. Natalie is a graduate of Cornell University, where she earned her Bachelor of Architecture in 2006, and enjoys working out, as well as eating!
