Major Campus Events
Student Funding Committees
The boards described on this page are student-driven funding
efforts that allow student groups to seek additional funding
after they have applied to their governmental organization.
The Large Event Fund and ARCADE are administered by the UA,
GSC, and ASA. Applications are reviewed in January and April
for Spring and Fall term events. Grants from the LEF and ARCADE
range from a few hundred to several thousand dollars.
Large Events
Fund (LEF)
LEF is geared toward large events that are put together between
multiple groups, and which attract audiences from multiple parts
of the MIT Community.
ARCADE
(Assisting Recurring Cultural and Diversity Events)
Arcade funds events that happen on a recurring basis, are of
a cultural/diversity nature, and will bring together many sections
of the MIT community and/or showcase the diversity of the campus.

Weekends@MIT
Student Life Programs, the Panhellenic Council, Dormitory Council
and the InterFraternity Council, are sponsoring Weekends@MIT
to help support residence hall and FSILG efforts to plan events
of campus-wide interest. We want to take a moment to thank Thomas
Glen Leo (1975) whose support has allowed us to fund an additional
large event or a few additional small events each year.
If you are a living group and are interested in obtaining funding,
please e-mail weekends@mit.edu. Typically, only one event will
be sponsored each weekend, and the average grant size is $1000
per event.
We also have additional funding for two or three of the weekends
to have larger-scale events. Creativity is encouraged. Events
can be of any size or scale - smaller sized events are definitely
welcome.
While groups can request funding multiple times, priority is
given to events with more than one living group as the sponsor
and then living groups who have not already sponsored an event
this academic year.
Grant requests should contain the tentative date/time/place
of the event, list of sponsors, purpose of the event, advertising
plan, and detailed budget (NOTE: please feel free to e-mail
weekends@mit.edu for advice
or ideas).
Events requesting funding will generally:
- have an MIT living group as one of the sponsors
- be held in a campus-wide location (i.e. not within a living
group), though this may be waived if multiple living groups
are serving as co-sponsors
- be open to the entire MIT community
- be held on a Friday or Saturday evening
- be free or at a reduced cost to MIT students
