Greek and Independent Living Groups > Independent Living Groups
Resources for Current Members

The Living Group council meetings are always open to any ILG resident or member who is interested in attending. Meetings are generally held every other Sunday throughout the semester, and the meeting location rotates from among the 5 houses. Students should contact the LGC Speaker at lgc-exec@mit.edu to inquire about attending upcoming meetings. The LGC serves as a forum for the Independent Living Groups to exchange ideas and work together to solve common problems. We function similarly to IFC, Panhel, or Dormcon in the way that we work together to promote ILG living at MIT.

LGC officers are elected annually from the 5 member houses, and work cooperatively to advance the purpose and interests of the LGC and ILGs.

  • The Speaker is responsible for representing the LGC to the MIT community and the public.
  • The Moderator is responsible for moderating LGC meetings and for coordinating the agenda and the schedule for meetings.
  • The Secretary is responsible for keeping minutes of meetings and for maintaining a current copy of all LGC documents including the charter.
  • The Treasurer is responsible for the finances of the LGC.
  • The Rush Chairs are responsible for coordinating all events and publications related to the recruitment of new members by the individual houses.
