Managing Group Accounts
Eligibility

All ASA recognized student organizations and official Residence Hall Governments are eligible for accounts through the Student Activities Finance Office. Refer to the ASA web page for details on becoming a recognized student group at MIT.

ASA organizations:
Each student organization gets two accounts automatically, a Main Account and a Funding Account. Additional accounts (reserve and endowment accounts) may be created upon request by a group, and review by SAFO staff.

Residence halls:
Each residence hall student government is assigned a main account through SAFO. Since each hall manages their funding differently, some halls may have the need for additional accounts through SAFO for theme houses, floors, etc. These are granted on a case-by-case basis. The house Treasurer and President are ultimately responsible for all accounts.

FSILGs:
Most FSILGs have their own independent bank accounts, however; FSILGs managing their own accounts may want to review the Treasurer’s Manual for FSILGs. http://fsilg.coop/treasurermanual20040427.pdf
