| Welcome
Parents of MIT Freshmen and New Students
Welcome to MIT! When your son or daughter becomes an MIT student
and a member of the MIT community, as their parent – you
become a member also.
You may want to take a look at the “Links”
page of this section. This is a listing of many of the offices
and departments at MIT that are involved in administrative and
service matters related to your student’s transition to
MIT. You will find much of this information useful to you as
you support your student, especially during their first year.
It is our hope that MIT will become home to the student in
your family during their years here. We provide our students
with academic support and provide resources that help them progress
in their academic goals. We also provide personal assistance
to students as needs arise.
In addition to ensuring that students receive the services
they need, we also create many opportunities for students to
get involved in activities of many
sorts from artistic to athletic to science-based to….the
possibilities are endless! These activities provide students
with the chance to do something they enjoy, to release some
stress, to take a study break and – most importantly –
to meet other students and develop the important friendships
that truly make MIT “Home” while they are students
here.
