For the Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) established within SMART Centre, we will be staffed with MIT faculty, research staff and students located in Singapore. SMART HQ


IT Support Assistant

Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, upgrade and maintain end-user workstations (hardware/ software/ operating system/ network) and related peripherals (eg. printers, scanners, etc.)

- Provide desktop support to end-users to troubleshoot and resolve problems/issues (hardware/ software/ network) related to their workstations and related peripherals

- Coordinate with equipment vendors and suppliers to resolve equipment or application problems

- Update and maintain the user access profile and access setting for the facility card access system, and coordinate with the vendor for the operation and maintenance of this system  

- Update and maintain the user access profile for servers  

- Maintain the inventory of all IT equipments (eg. Notebook, PC, printers, etc.) and software

- Provide end-user usage support and oversee the operation and maintenance of the videoconferencing system and network

- Assist in creation of process and procedure documentation that support the desktop environment and develop help sheets and frequently asked question lists for end-users.

- Administer of web based applications and update the people directory on the web site

- Perform other IT support responsibilities as needed

Requirements:
- Diploma in Computer Science / IT or equivalent

- At least 2 years’ of working experience in IT technical support for end-users

- Good knowledge and experience in the following areas: Windows/Mac OS/X, MS Office, network configuration and connectivity issues, PC and printer hardware
- Some knowledge on MS and Apple OS/X server

- Able to multi-task, work under pressure, and work both independently and as part of a team

- Good interpersonal skills, self motivated, resourceful and reliable

Graduate Studies Coordinator

The Singapore-MIT Alliance seeks a talented individual to assist with all facets of a graduate studies fellowship program among, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore. The successful candidate will:

  • Assist with the dissemination of recruitment information; schedules appointments, arranges for visits, and creates application files;
  • Assist with the distribution and updating of  printed and electronic publicity material for the fellowship;
  • Serves as a reference for applicants inquires;
  • Acts as resource and advocate for the students;
  • Assist with the processing of visa applications visit to MIT;
  • Assist with travel logistics for students traveling to MIT;
  • Liaison with the program’s faculty;

Qualifications: At least five years of relevant experience. Attention to detail and strong work ethic is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential, must be self-motivated and organized. Ability to multi-task is necessary. Proficient with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software applications. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Research Administrators
Duties and Responsibilities:

The selected candidates will be responsible for

  • Maintaining the financial accounts in accordance with accounting standards and company’s policies.  Key areas include the GL, PO/AP, AR and FA management.
  • Assisting in financial analysis, accounts closing and preparation of progress and financial reports.
  • Preparing the budgets and monitoring the use of funds for research projects and related operations.
  • Providing finance process advisory and administrative support to faculty and their research staff.  These include procurement, proposal preparation and related management.
  • Assisting in system enhancement implementation, if needed.
  • Performing other job related duties when required.

Education and skills:

  • An accounting degree or equivalent degree from a recognized university with at least 3 years of working experience in the field of accounting, audit and finance.
  • Excellent analytical skills, meticulous, and ability to meet timelines.
  • Ability to take initiative, work with minimal technical guidance and manage multiple projects simultaneously with changing deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to remain focused while dealing with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with a strong service oriented attitude.
  • Experience in using SAP Financials system is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.
