IMAP4
SIMS 2.0 employs a highly tuned version of the latest Internet Message Access Protocol version 4 (IMAP4) - RFC 1730. IMAP4 is a protocol used by mail servers and applications running on client systems to intelligently manage and transport mail messages. Sun's implementation of this standard leads the industry in performance and functionality while also maintaining full compliance.
POP3
Post Office Protocol version 3 (POP3) - RFC 1939 is a widely adopted standard for popular PC and UNIX mail clients. Many ISPs offer POP3 servers as their basic mail server offering, and many remote users use Microsoft Windows and Macintosh mail clients based on POP3. SMTP
