Welcome to SolsticeTM NFSTM ClientTM 3.2

   Solstice NFS Client is the ideal solution for users who need high-performance file sharing, connectivity, and caching capabilities.

Solstice NFS Client offers the high-performance NFS file sharing and disk caching found in Solstice Network ClientTM, but in a smaller, less expensive package that does not include the more powerful TCP/IP tools and applications that are included in the full Solstice Network Client package.

Product Overview

Solstice NFS Client enables a network administrator to provide users with access to NFS file and print services on a network without having to install and pay for other network applications and functionality the average user does not require.

Solstice NFS Client provides high-performance access to network file and printing services using NFS and the SunTM Solstice PC-CacheFSTM network caching technology.

Solstice NFS Client for Windows 95/98 and Windows NT provides these essential components:

  • NFS 3.0 and NFS 2.0 client support over TCP/IP and UDP
  • NFS 2.0 server for peer-to-peer networking
  • NIS+, NIS, and DNS support for enterprise-wide naming services
  • Automounter from Files, NIS and NIS+
  • Universal Naming Convention (UNC) support
  • Unified Microsoft Windows and network login
  • PCNFSD and LPR printer support to enable users to print directly to other network printers
  • Full integration with the Microsoft stack and Network Neighborhood
  • High-performance caching
  • WebNFS capability that allows users to mount shared NFS resources over the Internet using NFS URLS
  • DOS printing support for for Windows 95/98

Solstice NFS Client System Requirements

The hardware and software requirements for the Solstice NFS Client product are listed below.

On the Windows 95/98 and Windows NT Platforms:

  • Hardware: Any Intel 386, 486, or Pentium PC capable of running Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT
  • Operating System: Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Windows NT
  • Disk Space: 10 MB
  • Memory: Minimum requirement is 16 MB
  • Networking: Microsoft TCP/IP network protocol stack
  • Network Interface: Any standard network interface supported by Windows 95/98. Dial-up PPP is also supported
