SP753 Designs for Developing Countries

This multi-disciplinary design seminar focuses on developing technologies for improving health care in Africa. We will start by exploring the design process through a variety of hands-on exercises. Then students will work in teams and go through the entire design process-- from problem definition through to construction of a prototype.

Amy Smith is a graduate student in Mechanical Engineering and the Technology and Policy Program. She is currently working on research projects in Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Assisting with the course are: Aimee Angel and Michelle Berris of Mechanical Engineering; Fred Cote and Tony Caloggero of the Edgerton Center; Prof. Carmichael of Ocean Engineering; Prof. King of Physics; and Prof. Wilson of Mechanical Engineering.
