MIT Student and Artist-in-Residence Programs

About Us

Director / Program Coordinator / Program Assistants / Web Designer

Director

Michèle Oshima
I spent ten years in international business (trade, transportation, and software) before coming to MIT in 1995. I spent the first seven years in Women’s Studies working primarily with undergraduates. I’ve served on the Steering Committee for LBGT Issues, Committee on Campus Race Relations, as co-chair of the Undergraduate Administrators at MIT, and as a freshman advisor for 6 years. Please look at the web page for Student and Artist-in-Residence Programs to see what keeps me busy. For my sanity, I play trumpet in local bands. I have served on the board of the Center for New Words for many years and still mourn the closing of the New Words Bookstore in Inman Square.

Program Coordinator

Becca Motola-Barnes '08 just graduated from MIT with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She has gone through many iterations of “life plan” including, but not limited to, working for NASA, going into medicine, becoming a house cat, etc. Currently she is considering resource development or film production as career paths. She makes (and attempts to sell) jewelry, used to play the flute, has recently taken up photography, dabbles in writing, and above all loves to read. She recently became enthralled with the medium of graphic novels and has so far devoured Sandman by Neil Gaiman, Transmetropolitan by Warren Ellis/Darick Robertson, and Watchmen by Alan Moore. She likes socks and octopi.
