  • Deadline: [No funding is available for 2008-2009. One possible source of funding is the Council for the Arts]

About

Department-based AiR programs are designed to complement courses and foster trans-disciplinary work. These residencies, no less than 3 days, offer insights into different cultures and different ways of looking at familiar problems. Departments can apply for up to 50% of the total cost (equaling no more than $5000) of an individual program as detailed in the application. Student & Artist-in-Residence Programs can often suggest additional sources of funding. Faculty and staff are encouraged to plan programs in consultation with Student & Artist-in-Residence Programs in advance.

Guidelines

  • Select artist(s) in conjunction with your home department. Note that some departments have planning committees for such residencies. Contact your Department Head or Administrative Officer for more information.
  • Department-Based AiR programs require the full support of home departments for the fiscal management, logistics arrangements, and implementation. Approved funding will be transferred to the account designated by the home department upon successful completion of the residency.
  • Plan the content of the program with other faculty. You may want to consult with the artist and/or Student & Artist-in-Residence Programs.
  • Develop the budget and investigate additional financial resources for match funding.
  • Complete the application, secure all signatures, and include all appendices with support materials. Supporting materials are useful for the Selection Committee.
