Classes for Credit

  • 21M.A12: Freshman Arts Seminar Advising Program (FASAP)
  • FASAP is a 6-unit seminar allowing freshmen to discover the arts in and around MIT. The class introduces freshmen to many of the rich art resources available to them and gives them the opportunity to meet other freshmen interested in the arts. Additionally, freshmen receive advising from MIT professors, staff, and upperclassmen who are involved in the arts, gaining advice and guidance on academics and the arts at MIT.

  • SP.791: Promoting the Arts through Design (PATD)
  • This 6-unit spring service seminar is designed around a student project to promote a local non-profit arts organization. The projects expose participants to design skills and concepts as well as the process of dealing with clients and the mission and structure of arts organizations. Previous projects have involved collaborations with Green Street Studios and thoughtandmemory.org.

Extracurricular Art Classes

  • Student Art Association (SAA)
  • The Student Art Association provides studio art instruction at the novice and intermediate levels in a variety of media, including 2D drawing, ceramics, and photography. Studios are accessible to SAA students nearly 24 hours a day. Sign up for courses at the start of each term (fall, IAP, spring, summer) to develop your skills in an open, no-pressure, hands-on environment.
