Seminar / Events / Workshops / Arts Share
FASAP brings student artists together to discuss, create, learn, and experience the arts at MIT and around Boston. Students meet weekly with their advising groups and attend seminars to discuss the arts. Additionally, students will get a chance to explore the arts at MIT and Boston by attending selected arts events and workshops throughout the year. More detail on the different activities in FASAP can be found below.
Seminar
During the Fall term, students meet once every week for two hours. The first half of this two-hour block is devoted to guest speakers. Recent speakers have included science fiction author and MIT professor Joe Haldeman, Comparative Media Studies department head Henry Jenkins, and puppeteer and artist-in-residence Mulatu Astatke. During the second half of class, students meet in smaller groups to discuss art and the freshman experience. These smaller breakout groups are led by MIT faculty and staff advisors who work in the arts or work in other fields but have outside arts interests.
