OK, About Me.This page hadn't been updated in about 18 months, so it was quite overdue. Let's see if I can do a good job here. So, what do you want to know? I'm male. I was born 11/18/77, so now you can figure out how old I am. There are only really two things that are hugely important to me. One of them is my wonderful and infinately patient wife, Jamie (just married, 5/20/2000!) . The other is my work, which is physics. I'm mostly going to talk about about physics here, because there's no way to sum up how cool Jamie is on a web page. Since October 1999 I've picked up a third aspect of my life (but it's definately my third priority), namely judo. It's a tough balance 'cause I'm the kinda guy who gets really passionate about the things he does. I really like to pour my all into whatever I do. Thus, doing two things ain't that easy, and three ain't any better. I seem to be handling it all just fine, though. I seem to do pretty well at whatever I try. So, you probably have noticed that I'm located at MIT. I came here in the fall of 1995 from Marshfield, Massachusetts, where my wife and I went to high school. After a breif stint as an planetary science major--which was a result of fear of getting my academic ass kicked by physics--I eventually switched back to the pursuit of the career I've wanted since I was in junior high. I did some research studying aspects of shock waves in the solar wind with the MIT Space Plasma Group, but eventually realized that I'm a actually theorist at heart. I did my senior thesis on the algorithmic side of quantum computing, looking for algorithms to quickly search sorted lists. I finally graduated from MIT in the spring of 1999, but was admitted to the graduate program in the MIT Center for Theoretical Physics to pursue a doctoral degree. So, I'm still here, and will be for at least the next few years. That's all just fine with me. I like it here. It suits me. Here's a little rant that's partly about why I like being at MIT so much, but it's mostly about how I don't really like stupid people. Here should be some paragraphs about physics, with a link back to my main page. Here should be some paragraphs about judo, also with a link back. |
My .zsig file, if you know what I mean...
This is a picture I took once. It took a long time. I was part of a small team.
